"My son has been wearing rib protectors ever since bruising ribs in practice last year. When he outgrew his older shoulder pads and needed a new set I got him the Rawlins Spartan youth shoulder pads along with this rib protector. My son really likes these protectors, the molded rib protectors made it a bit uncomfortable getting into a stance and the added weight didn't help. Although he did well, I saw this model of rib protector and thought I would give him the option of choosing what he preferred. Needless to say, these rib protectors are much more comfortable and lighter. Although the offer a bit less protection, the added comfort and mobility make up for an loss of protection and they are also much cooler (improtant if you play fotoball in Arizona!). So far, these are definately his favorite rib protactors and really seem to help him stay safe while making him feel secure. He is definatley more confident on the field when he has the added protection and it shows in the way he plays. Great peice of equipment, definatley recommend it for players looking for added protection with a minimun amount of weight."
